VoIP phone system range

What is VoIP?

VoIP as a definition is Voice over Internet Protocol (also noun as Voice Over IP, VoIP or IP telephony). It is a methodology and group of technologies for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. The terms Internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone service specifically refer to the provisioning of communications services (voice, fax, SMS, voice-messaging) over the public Internet, rather than via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

How is this useful?

VoIP can turn a standard Internet connection into a way to place free phone calls. Hence, You do not need two cables on your desk (Telephone and Internet) but will have one cable which will connect both. You can use to call other VoIP phones without being connected to network service provider saving some money they would charge.

How VoIP Call Works?

  • VoIP to Analogue:- The simplest and most common way is through the use of a Telephone System. The Telephone System allows you to connect a standard phone to your computer or your Internet connection for use with VoIP. The Telephone System is an analogue-to-digital converter. It takes the analogue signal from your traditional phone and converts it into digital data for transmission over the Internet.
  • IP Phones:- These specialized phones look just like normal phones with a handset, cradle and buttons. But instead of having the standard RJ-11 phone connectors, IP phones have an RJ-45 Ethernet connector. IP phones connect directly to your router and have all the hardware and software necessary right onboard to handle the IP call. Wi-Fi phones allow subscribing callers to make VoIP calls from any Wi-Fi hot spot.
  • Hosted VoIP System:- This is the modernized way of office telephony. The hosted VoIP system allows you to connect to your network, and use the same DDI number wherever you are, whenever you want. You do not need a physical telephone system on site, so this saves the cost of the server equipment.
