How to prepare for the end of ISDN.

Planning for the ISDN phase out

With the announcement by British Telecom to stop support for ISDN services by 2020 and complete cessation by 2025, it is vital that businesses plan a migration policy as soon as possible.

Step one: scoping the job

SIP can work alongside ISDN, so the switch needn’t be fraught with the panic of turning one system off and another on at the same time. Costing will also be included within this part of the process.

Step two: audit the current system

A big part of the process from our end will be auditing your current infrastructure and network capacity. Essentially, we need this information in order to understand the optimum service provision required to meet your business demands.

This can include the available bandwidth on the existing data connectivity, to decide if additional or dedicated connections are required to carry voice traffic. Step Three: switch and go live

Time to switch your service to your new SIP. You do not need to worry about downtime as our network service team will divert calls to any requested mobile or landline during the switching period. The important thing is to note that if steps one and two have been completed correctly, step three should go smoothly.
