Not only did this save considerable cost but also enabled overflow calls at peak times to be re-routed to a less busy reception in one of the other hotels to improve customer service. The hotels could also offer the facility for Internet access and potentially conference calling and video conferencing, a major step forward.

The hotels are confident of attracting an additional five per cent occupancy as a result of being able to offer state of the art communications to their guests and also look to increase conference business by some ten per cent, particularly amongst high tech customers keen to have Internet access available for conferences and training.
