Competition in the nursing home market over recent years has increased markedly over the last few years, with a move not only to provide a better standard of care but also new levels of accommodation and support not just for the resident but also for the immediate family.
Our experience shows that high on the priority list of both residents and familes is the ability to keep in touch with loved ones. It is no longer sufficient to provide a shared pay phone in a communal place.
New telephone systems allow everyone to have their own phone in their living area, enabling them to make outbound calls and as importantly take direct dial inbound calls from relatives, backed up by voice mail for times when they are not by the phone.
From the homes point of view, a much better service is being provided with less pressure on the main switchboard, residents are happier and thanks to a computerised system, individual billing of each extension can be provided monthly with an opportunity to make a margin on this activity, as a way of paying for the initial investment.
